Our experience at SGF has been nothing but a headache so far. I do enjoy working with Dr. Murray and have appreciated her insight however everything else has been a poor experience. There is terrible financial and insurance communication. I have gotten several different answers about billing and insurance. Upon having to self pay for our initial consultation because we were not made aware we needed a referral until the day before the appointment. I was told they would bill it out to insurance and I would be reimbursed the difference. I have asked multiple people multiple times to see if this had been resubmitted to insurance and had been reassured that it has. Come to find out several months later than it is only now just been built to insurance, which will take another 30 to 45 days to process. Everything has felt very discouraging and very advantageous to the clinic while we are in a very vulnerable position and continuously asked to shell out money when we are told that procedures and appointments are covered by insurance.

My experience with Shady Grove has been absolutely fantastic! The staff has been informative, kind, and responsive no matter if it’s in the portal or over the phone. They were also much quicker to work with than CCRM. I began working with SGF in 03/2026. Dr. Amy Harris was my main doctor, and Dr. Alex Polotsky did the FET procedure. They were both amazing! I’m happy to say I’m officially graduating the fertility clinic after a successful transfer! I can’t say thank you enough.

If you are doing any lab testing here I would avoid it. Made me jump through a bunch of hoops to add a test I requested. Then had me pay an extra 325 dollars for it, absolutely fine, thats what it costs. Assured me they would have it done and "prep the lab". Took me over a week to find out they just didn't run it. They told my referring doctor to call in and get a refund and reschedule my test. When I called they would reschedule but would not refund. Complete waste of time and the very nice front desk lady spoke with to try and get the refund approved said that they would have to pay for the test going to the lab if I did not pay for it so they couldn't offer the refund. Umm.. yes that would be the point after your error. Thank you for that obvious statement. Again, would avoid getting any lab testing done. I had to get an additional doctors referral they specifically asked for and multiple calls in to schedule this test. Paperwork and receipts verifying the test would be done. So many recorded avenues and they still missed it and would not have ever realized it had I never investigated further. I cancelled the test and they will refunding me the 325 at the lightning fast pace of one month from now.

I don’t write reviews lightly, but I feel strongly that other women deserve to hear this. If you’re reading this, you’re probably in a place of vulnerability, just like I am. You’re likely hoping for answers, clarity, and real support. You believe that going to a clinic like Shady Grove will help you understand why you’re struggling and guide you toward getting pregnant. That’s not what I experienced. Instead of feeling supported, I felt rushed, dismissed, and ultimately funneled into a system that seemed far more focused on selling treatments than actually understanding my situation. The $300 “consultation” felt surface-level at best…followed quickly by conversations about IVF, procedures and costs. Rather than thoughtful diagnostics or a personalized plan by Dr. Harris, I was handed a diagram on how babies are made and then directed to financial services, where the focus shifted to how I could budget for IVF. It was incredibly disheartening. When you’re already emotionally and physically drained, the last thing you need is to feel like a number…or worse, a transaction. After expressing my concerns to Dr. Harris and fighting for myself, I was forced into a $1100 procedure (that was not needed), $600 blood work, $1800 ultrasound and another $300 follow up just to tell me everything looked normal and she was right, IVF is my only option. Oh and if you can’t pay the deposit BEFORE your appointment, too bad. You will have to cancel and get slapped with a cancellation fee on top of it. Ladies, there are other options. There are providers who will take the time to listen, investigate, and genuinely care about your journey, not just your ability to pay. Thankfully for me, I’ve experienced this and was able to spot the difference right away. Please, do your research. Ask questions. Advocate for yourself. And most importantly, don’t assume this is your only path towards a baby. You deserve better care than this. This place is taking advantage of desperate woman praying for a little miracle. Please, go somewhere else.

Everyone at Shady Grove has been fantastic. The entire staff is polite, helpful, and personable, which makes each visit far less stressful. Steph, the ultrasound tech who has done the majority of my scans, deserves special recognition. I truly can’t say enough good things about her. She is friendly, knowledgeable, and makes every visit so much more comfortable. She’s easy to talk to, and visits that are typically awkward aren’t at all with her. I usually struggle with social anxiety, but I don’t feel that way with Steph, which is huge for me given the nature of these appointments. While I wish I didn’t need to be here, the staff has made the experience feel like much more than just a stressful medical procedure. The front desk staff is attentive and helpful, the CNAs are personable and excellent at what they do (every blood draw has been successful on the first stick), the techs are informative and kind, and the nurses are quick to respond and happy to answer any questions I have. Although I’ve only seen Dr. Harris a handful of times, I know she is working hard behind the scenes. When I have spoken with her, she has been wonderful at explaining things in a way my brain can truly understand and definitely shows that she really cares about what she does. Everyone here has made this journey easier, and I can’t wait for the day I get to share happy news with them.
