Shady Grove Fertility in Alpharetta

My experience with Shady Grove Fertility has been profoundly disappointing. Fertility treatment requires a high standard of administrative precision and empathy, yet we were met with unnecessary stress at every turn. The issues began immediately when our patient portals, mine and my husband’s, were completely swapped. Correcting this simple administrative error took far too long, and we were forced to manually redo all of our tasks. Later, when I proactively asked about adding specific lab tests to optimize our diagnostic timeline, my inquiries were repeatedly met with flat, unexplained rejections from the patient care coordinator, rather than a collaborative discussion. The definitive breakdown occurred during our first lab appointments. My husband’s morning visit went smoothly, but my 1:15 p.m. appointment, which I scheduled during my lunch break after arranging coverage for my own patient, was unacceptable. I arrived 15 minutes early, waited over 40 minutes in silence, and was finally given a, "It'll be a while" by the front desk. When I explained that I, too, had patients waiting, the staff simply offered to reschedule me. To make matters worse, the patient care coordinator attempted to "de-escalate" by stating, "Well, you work in healthcare, so you should understand." This is a critical learning opportunity for your team. Working in healthcare is precisely why I know this behavior is unacceptable. A medical background does not excuse a clinic from respecting a patient's time. It underscores how easily a delay can be managed with communication and empathy. Fertility patients carry an immense emotional weight. We expected care that reflected that reality, but were instead left feeling dismissed.

My husband and I have had an amazing experience with Shady Grove Alpharetta. We started our journey in August of 2024 and I am truly so thankful we found this facility and they supported me throughout all the ups and downs of IUI and IVF. Obviously it’s a scary situation, IVF is not how you dream of building your family, nor is a fertility clinic the place you dream of becoming a “regular” at, but I felt so seen and heard by Dr. Gay and his entire staff. The journey was very long, and infertility does require quite a bit of self advocacy, but I always felt like my questions were answered and my concerns were addressed. Nurse Kyleigh is truly the kindest soul, and she is always there and reachable for questions and worries. You can tell everyone here really cares for you and wants to see your success. I never had any issues with billing, insurance, or administration which is a huge relief as this process could’ve easily been made harder by those factors. You will be in the best hands with Dr. Gay and Kyleigh!

5 stars truly isn’t enough for Dr. Gay and his entire team at SGF. From the first hello at the front desk for our consultation to graduation to OB, they have been so supportive, kind, informative, and made every step of this process feel as they were not just our medical team, but our support system. Our nurse, Kyleigh, was also incredible. She is the perfect blend of knowledgeable, kind, and compassionate. My husband and I never thought we’d be sad to leave a medical office, but with the exceptional care they provide partnered with the passion they put into their patients, graduating was very emotional. I could go on and on about how grateful I am to them, and how much I adore all of them. SGF has given us so much, and we are forever thankful they are part of our story. 🩷

After years of trying to find answers, I did not get any closer with Shady Grove. Turns out my “unexplained infertility” was actually a missed stage 2 endometriosis diagnosis. Friendly staff, but if you actually want to know what’s going on with your body, I recommend taking a different approach. Luckily, I found a NaPro fertility specialist that was able to give me the answers I had been looking for.

I hate to write this review but hoping it helps others. I’ve really tried to give this place a chance but all Dr. Gay has cared about is if I want to move forward with IVF or not. If not, he’s not concerned. I’ve been through all sorts of wonderful doctors in the past three years with my breast cancer journey and want to try for another baby post chemo. He’s nice but literally only cares about IVF and collecting my husbands fluids/blood after we’ve told him over and over no and we are not happy about that. We explained this in length and it’s exhausting and came off pushy. They also have had a lot of staff turnover which has been a whole other thing. They don’t read the notes and you have to repeat things over and over. Lots of confusion on their end. Again, I really tried to give this place a chance but just something didn’t pass the smell test :/ I really hope they can get things smoothed out because it’s a shame.
