RMA of New York – Long Island: Stony Brook

Hours of location are wrong. Just drove an hour for them to be closed. Also, stop telling patients they can get sterile specimen cups at the pharmacy. You can’t. Made me waste my whole afternoon driving around looking for one. Obviously this place could care less.

RMA LI is still in business because there is no option of finding a proper credible research based results focused IVF places here on Suffolk county. We had a very good experience in our first pregnancy and it happened after the very first embryo transplant at our first clinic which is a proper research non profit organization but because we moved an hour away to Suffolk and because of our small child we decided it was too much to commute back and forth for monitoring trips in the early morning hours. We looked around and found Long Island RMA. The reviews were reasonable so we decided to go with them. From day one they were extremely hawkish about the copay the first thing after “hello” was “ you have a copay”. First appointment they made us pay 250 dollars which according to my insurance I did not have to pay when I questioned them they said “I have a credit on file now”. They collected copay for every visit. They were not suppose to take a copay once you entered the “monitoring” period but they still did until we said something. When you point these things out they said sorry “you now have a credit on file” and you won’t pay next time. You really had to keep an eye on your private insurance claims submitted by RMA LI. Few times I had to dispute charges with them that my insurance company site showed I don’t owe this but you charged me and they would say “now you have a credit on file”. I mentioned that we had a healthy pregnancy the first time at another clinic so we naturally had multiple embryos frozen. We were told by RMA LI that we had to pay 700 for administrative fee even if we were self transporting our embryos to their clinic. We only borrowed their empty tank for the transport. We did two failed cycles with RMA Long Island and all it did was cost us emotional hurt and financial loss. They have a “one size fits all” approach for all their patients. During the two IVF cycles not once did they adjust the dosage of “progesterone” which is a standard practice in the IVF world based on your blood work and while at our first clinic they always adjusted the dosage based on the blood work. It goes to show you there is no individual attention to the patients blood work and their unique needs here at RMA Long Island. When the first attempt at IVF failed they did not change or prescribed additional medication or do any tests; they just made sure our insurance still had remaining funds to cover another cycle and moved right on. Same stress upon copays and making sure you paid your coinsurance ahead of the scheduled implant date. After the failed second cycle we wanted to have a phone discussion with DR. Kenigsberg, we thought this is the least they could do and again they said we have to collect a copay for the phone call. This was the straw that broke the camels back. We decided to move our remaining embryos back to our first clinic. We again self transported our embryos and our first clinic did not have any such charges of “administrative fees”. On the contrary RMA Long Island again wanted 500 dollars administrative fee to release our embryos. Once I asked for a written policy on these back and forth administrative fees and reminded them that I already have paid 700 in administrative fee when bringing in our embryos; I was met with silence and they did not bring up the additional 500 dollars. I am sure they had milked my insurance and me for enough profits. Finally when we started our visits at RMA Long Island and with only my husband able to drive we had to take our 2 yr old to the clinic because all the appointments were in the morning. After the first visit they made sure to tell us that next time do not bring your child to the clinic because kids are not allowed. Since then for all my visits for the duration of two IVF cycles my husband and my two year old would wait in the car. The entire clinic team including DR. Kenigsberg is extremely insensitive and could care less for a patient circumstances. They are purely operating for profit and to make as much money as possible.

25 years old and a 14 year childhood cancer survivor; I came here to do egg freezing as a backup option for down the road. Not sure if I want kids but would like the option. ALL staff have been nothing short of amazing. Very kind, helpful, accommodating, insightful, etc. I did three cycles over the course of 7 months and just finished my last. I will always highly recommend them to everyone I know. It’s scary and hard but they make it so easy. The best and only place I’d ever use if I do this again down the line. Thank you RMA team!!!

Love the whole staff. I had a successful IVF baby! We’re so thankful, all the process was detailed and went smooth. The nurse that check your blood, she’s amazing! I don’t like needles but with her I didn’t feel the pinch, no bruise, quick. 10/10! The doctor goes on point, in the waiting room the longest time I was there maybe was 5min.. I recommend this place!!

My experiences with RMA Long Island IVF have been terrible. I’ve had my appointments cancelled 3 times thus far; I keep being informed that my appointments are being canceled due to scheduling problems with the doctor. I expressed to the front desk how tiresome this was getting and how I keep having to take time off of work to make these appointments just to have them cancel on short notice, the response I received was a short “Okay?” I find this to be extremely unprofessional; how is the staff not made aware of the doctors available schedule before scheduling appointments with patients.
