I had a deeply disappointing experience with RGI and finally feel ready to share it now. Shortly after becoming pregnant under Dr. Warwar’s care at RGI (Westerville), I miscarried and chose to undergo a D&C. The procedure itself was uneventful, but I bled for nearly three months afterward with no meaningful clinical intervention. Despite repeatedly informing my Nurse Navigator Kaela, and asking if this was normal, I was told everyone responds differently and that they would continue monitoring my HcG levels. After suffering through the emotional rollercoaster of ongoing fertility issues (including this joy of finally becoming pregnant only to result in a crushing loss); I was led to believe that bleeding for three months straight afterward was not abnormal, all the while being subjected to the futility of showing up to the clinic at the crack of dawn to get WEEKLY blood draws which continued to show little to no decrease in my pregnancy hormone. I never heard directly from Dr. Warwar during this time. After a frightening heavy bleeding episode and a call to the after-hours line, further evaluation revealed retained tissue from the D&C. A hysteroscopy was required to remove it. Prolonged bleeding should have warranted earlier follow-up. Days after the hysteroscopy, when I reported urinary difficulties, I again received no timely response and ultimately sought care from my OB/GYN out of desperation. I expressed that I had lost confidence in RGI through my Nurse Navigator and did not hear from Dr. Warwar again until a random voicemail months later. I later transferred clinics, where a sonohysterogram revealed retained tissue still remained. The experience with RGI left me devastated, frustrated, and grieving not only my loss, but the time and trust I placed in care that fell far short. I hope sharing my story helps others make an informed decision about their fertility care.

1. I received my IVF meds in the mail and the directions were awful. First off, the med names were all completely different than the ones I received in the mail, so you couldn't really tell which was to use and dosage, and in what order, etc. I went into full panic attack because you have to follow the meds schedule to a T. They called me into the office explaining I must have received name brand instructions while the actual meds delivered were generic names. 2. While I was under anesthesia for my egg retrieval, I stopped breathing. This was completely under played by the medical team. As I was coming off sleepy stage they casually mentioned it to me and my husband like it wasn't a big deal. No real details. I assume they did chest compressions on me (?) Because it felt like someone had punched my chest for a week. I should have pursued more information about this but was feeling defeated at the time. 3. Just received a random bill in the mail for embryo storage. Here's the kicker! I had no embryos to store! I was told at my last retrieval that I only had 1 embryo and it was genetically unhealthy so it was destroyed. I then told the clinic we were done and would not pursue any further fertility treatments. Im still waiting on the billing office to call me back to correct this "embryo storage" bill I only hope others have better experiences!

Wow for some reason my review was taken down! Probably because THEY ARE THE WORST kind of medical providers. Dr. Jain cared nothing about my reproductive “journey,” my true odds of success, my health, my mental or physical comfort and well being. He just wants that money. Don’t go here. You’ll know it by your 3rd appointment & after that you’re in too deep to back out & you just hope you’re being too sensitive….

I know this is long, but please read my story. I want to start this review by acknowledging that the clinic as a whole seems wonderful. My experience with the OBGYN was truly outstanding—she exhibited an amazing bedside manner, was thoughtful and encouraging, and embodied all the qualities one would hope for in a guide through the IVF process. Similarly, the Patient Care Navigator assigned to us was a joy to work with and very prompt in communication. However, my experience with the financial coordinator was entirely different. From the beginning of this IVF process, I emphasized that finances were a significant concern for my family. While I was aware that our insurance plan did not cover IVF, I also knew that certain aspects of the process—such as genetic testing, medications, and diagnostic procedures—might be covered. I dedicated hours to researching my particular insurance plan. I investigated policies, learned medical necessities, CPT codes and diagnostic codes, and spoke with my insurance company so often I saved their number on my phone.Through all this effort, I discovered that with a prior authorization form, demonstrating medical necessity, there was a possibility that insurance might cover certain costs. I shared this information with the financial coordinator, expecting guidance and advocacy. Instead, she asked me to contact my insurance company and have them call her—a task that I felt was her responsibility. Despite my reservations, I complied. What followed was an excruciatingly uncomfortable three-way phone call where the financial coordinator repeatedly insisted, I didn’t have IVF coverage (a fact everyone on the call already knew). She dismissed my research, interrupted me as I tried to explain the policies I had found, and outright refused to submit the prior authorization form I had requested for the IVF process. I decided to try a different approach and asked for a prior authorization form be filled out for the genetic testing of my embryos. I attempted to share the relevant codes and policies I found. The financial advisor shut me down again, claiming that “IVF is a specialty” and that my research didn’t apply. She even accused me of asking my insurance representatives “the wrong questions.” Quite frankly, she made me feel like an idiot. This was particularly frustrating, given my background in the medical field and my efforts to thoroughly educate myself on the topic. The insurance representative on the call was clearly uncomfortable and eventually offered me a contact number for their maternal/fetal insurance specialists. I eagerly agreed to take the number, but the financial coordinator abruptly intervened. I was told “Do not write that number down!  You do not have IVF coverage!  If you call them were just going to be having this same conversation a couple weeks from now.” I felt like she had slapped me.  I said “thank you” and hung up the phone. Fortunately, my story doesn’t end there. A few weeks later, I consulted with another clinic that provided an entirely different experience. They submitted the prior authorization form for genetic testing without hesitation, answered all my questions about CPT and diagnostic codes, reviewed the policies I shared, and treated me with kindness and respect. My insurance company APPROVED coverage for the equipment needed to test my embryos, saving me thousands of dollars. They even assured me they would submit a prior authorization form for the retrieval process when the time came, giving me hope for additional coverage. I recognize how fortunate I am to have received this approval, as I know this outcome is not guaranteed for everyone. The brief time I spent working with someone who clearly didn’t care about patients, or their financial burdens was gut-wrenching—it could have cost me thousands of dollars. The contrast between that experience and the compassion and effort shown by the clinic I am working with now, is stark. I am deeply grateful to now be working with a team that is willing to advocate for me and cares enough to try.

My husband and I had a wonderful experience with RGI - The nursing staff, front desk staff and PAs became like family in our infertility journey. Always so kind, supportive and helpful every step of the way. I felt like I had my own cheering squad for our future baby! Dr. Jain is so experienced and follows evidence-based medicine - while being open to any questions/concerns about alternative options. He is straight-forward in explaining his protocol and the options that work best for you as an individual patient. My treatment was always tailored to me, as well as what worked/didn't work before. The proof is in their success rates, which are unbeat by any other clinic in the Columbus area. Infertility is stressful and my husband and I were so grateful to have such a caring and talented team behind us in the journey.
