Reviews
I came about seeing Dr. Smotrich through both a lot of research and a recommendation from a friend that was also older and had some IVF challenges herself. I had a horrible experience with a different provider and sought to find other professional opinions. After transferring my records to Dr. Smotrich we discussed his recommendation and what I was looking for. I felt that our plan was inline as I was 42 years of age at the time and felt some sense of desperation as my "time was running out." Although my first egg retrieval didn't end in having any viable embryos I still believed it would be possible to have a successful outcome if I continued with doctors protocol. Bear in mind, the protocol was not very aggressive at all. With my third retrieval we only ended up getting 2 viable embryos; I decided to transfer the two embryos I had and ended up with one successfully implanting and getting pregnant! Now nine months later I have my miracle baby boy thanks to Dr. Smotrich and his wonderful office staff. Everyone has been so kind and explained everything to me so thoroughly. I am forever grateful. Also it's important to mention that I didn't feel like this was just a transaction for Dr. S. He genuinely cares about his patients and helping people have babies.
Very frustrating clinic to work with. Some of the Office staff is very rude. They cannot seem to keep track of orders or patient charts. Have never had such a difficult time with a clinic before. I was referred to Use them for outside monitoring, would never recommend them and only used them because I had no other options available to me. Save yourself the headache and pick somewhere else, it literally would take 3-7 phone calls to schedule an appointment. Cannot speak on their ivf techniques, but as an outside monitoring choice they have been horrible and stressful.
Oh, I can't say enough positives about Dr. Smotrich and Lupe. They made my trip from North Carolina worth it! I had a stressful day until I got there. I left there so happy and in awe! I can't recommend them enough!
I cannot say enough about Dr. Smotrich and his staff. This man is obviously a brilliant, gifted, and caring doctor. After years of disappointments at another clinic in the Midwest, a LOT of wasted money, not to mention other failures at starting a family, our surro is preg with twins on our first cycle with La Jolla. Crazy. This place sets the bar. Super impressed. Our surrogate (a friend) has now been released to her OB and said, Noooo!!! Because she doesn't want to stop working with La Jolla. That's a testament.
Everyone here is so knowledgeable and friendly. Dr. Smotrich walks you thru everything and even calls to follow up with you. So far in my surrogacy journey it has been the best experience because of La Jolla IVF. I have even talked to others who have gone thru surrogacy and egg donation who have worked with other ivf centers and I by far have had the best experience.
