East Tennessee IVF and Andrology Center: Harris Gayla MD

We love Dr. Harris and are very grateful for her and her receptionist/nurse Yvonne. Dr. Harris was the second fertility doctor we have been with. We worked with her for about a year and a half. She was the first to take a detailed look at my husband AND myself. She actually listened to our concerns and gave us facts and as many solutions as she could. She does speak very quickly but will repeat herself and answer the questions you will have- being the person I am, I had many all the time! Dr. Harris was very straightforward with us, which even when information was difficult to hear, was good knowing we were being told the truth and reality of next steps. Yvonne will take care of you. She is also straightforward, which is appreciated. She has to make some difficult phone calls and always handled our reactions with care. Note - we possibly would’ve gotten our positive pregnancy success sooner had it not been for our own life stuff, my body’s unexpected reaction to some medications, and if I had been more open to surgery sooner. We are expecting a baby boy purely thanks to Dr. Harris and her team.

I waited almost 3 months for an appointment at Dr. Harris’ office, and unfortunately my experience with the receptionist was extremely disappointing from the very beginning. I first contacted the office around March 20 and was given an appointment for April 23. Before the appointment, I was told to complete and fax paperwork. They emailed me 10 pages — but apparently there was supposed to be an 11th page, the medical records release form, which I never received. Right before the appointment, they called to say they had to cancel and reschedule because that form had never been signed. When I explained that I was never sent that page, the receptionist insisted it had been sent and rescheduled me again for May 21. After sending the missing form along with copies of both sides of my ID, we waited another month. Then, on the day of the appointment — just as we were about to leave for Knoxville (almost an hour away) — they called AGAIN to cancel, claiming they had never received my medical records from my doctors. I immediately contacted both my primary care doctor and my gynecologist, and BOTH offices confirmed they had NEVER received any medical records request from Dr. Harris’ office in the first place. The receptionist I dealt with from day one was rude, dismissive, and unprofessional every single time I spoke with her. From my very first visit to schedule the appointment in person, I felt unwelcome. The office door was locked, and when she finally opened it slightly, her attitude was cold and irritated. When I explained I was referred by my gynecologist and would be self-pay, she acted as though I was a burden instead of a patient willing to pay for services. To be clear: I do not know Dr. Harris personally, so I cannot speak on the doctor’s care. My review is entirely based on the terrible experience with the receptionist and office management. After TWO cancellations and months of wasted time, I finally found another doctor. Their office sent all paperwork immediately and scheduled me for June 2 without any issues. (Jeffrey A. Patients deserve professionalism, communication, and respect — especially when they are paying for care and waiting months for an appointment.

Dr. Harris was very thorough, thoughtful, and intentional from our very first video call. Every visit, every procedure, and every follow-up visit after, she truly listened and cared throughout the entire process. She answered every question thoroughly in a way that I could understand and always made me feel supported and informed. Because of Dr. Harris, I had a successful pregnancy and now have the title of “Mama.” I will always be grateful for the care and part she had in our journey.

I love Dr. Harris, both of my kids daughter just turned 18 & son 15 gave me the help to get them here as well as 4 of my friends, so between all 3 of us couples, we have a combined 8 kids!! Dr Harris even had to come in on a Saturday morning to do my IUi.

I only gave this one star because Google doesn't allow 0. I have never been so disappointed by a physician in my entire life, and in 4 years of TTC I have been faced with a lot of let downs... Dr. Harris' office takes the cake. Where to begin? Just like many other reviews say, she talks way to fast and treats you like you're just another number. This particular lack of bedside manners didn't phase me much at first, but then I realized she never remembered anything, never took notes, and was constantly making mistakes or telling me and my husband different information with each time we talked to her. She consistently got mine, and my husband's, medications wrong, forgot to call them in for me so I missed cycles, unresponsive to call, messages, emails, etc. and has overall left me more frustrated. I could go into even more detail about how horrible this experience has been and about how I feel I've wasted even more very precious time and money, but at the end of the day it's all the way around bad. In fact, I don't recall ever having written a Google review for anything until now. And that doesn't even include how horrible Evonne at the front desk has been towards us. A note from a very disappointed patient: Get better and kinder staff, remember the fragility of the patients you are dealing with, take notes on your patients so that you remember what their treatments are (duh!), be responsive (EVEN A LITTLE!), and try having some compassion and slowing down. Seems Dr. Harris and Evonne would be better suited for an emergency room setting rather than a touchy and emotional setting such as this one. PS, I'm writing this after being told my ovulation inducing medication was sent in yesterday and should be starting today but she never sent it in and is COMPLETELY unreachable and we're going into the weekend now... So thank you for wasting MORE precious time.
