Reviews
Walking into CCRM Fertility of Austin in October 2024, I was focused almost exclusively on a clinical outcome. A year and a half later, I can honestly say I’ve been changed not only by the clinical care I received, but also by the genuine compassion, kindness, and humanity of the entire CCRM team. Dr. Chang, Shayla, Ashley, Amanda, Shanna, Billie, Addie, Maggie (the list goes on!!!) are all exceptional clinicians, but even more importantly, they are incredible people. In a field where clinicians are constantly balancing demanding schedules and the tumultuousness of reproductive health policy in Texas, it would be easy, expected even, for patients to feel like just another number. That was never my experience at CCRM. Every aspect of my care felt deeply personalized, from my treatment protocol to every blood draw, sonogram, and procedure. The team consistently made me feel seen, supported, and genuinely cared for throughout the entire process. It truly felt like everyone was on this journey with me. Through the good days and the hard days, we laughed, we cried, we celebrated, and we hoped. Most days, I find myself thanking the universe for CCRM. I am entirely convinced there is no better clinic. Of course, the renowned science, exceptional labs, and impressive success rates are part of what makes that true, but it’s the human experience that has left a lasting imprint on my life. Infertility will break your heart if you let it. The team at CCRM helped put mine back together again!
Infertility can be overwhelming, saddening, and an experience that makes you question a lot of things about the world. Going through this with my wife, I'm glad CCRM's team was the one that we chose. While working with CCRM, we unexpectedly lost our dog, and I lost my job. CCRM was an incredible medical provider (my wife is now 9 months pregnant), but what stood out was their emotional support and bedside manner throughout the process. Shayla's consistently fun and joyous presence made walking in everyday a treat. She is also apparently the best phlebotomist in the world. Ashley's kindness made a tough process actually enjoyable. Shanna's warmth and leadership contributed to an environment where we trusted everyone and ourselves. Amanda worked the front desk while my wife was being treated. Her soft spoken and calming demeanor was the perfect "first conversation" to have every time we walked in, whether it was a good day or not. Dr. Chang gifted my wife a plush replica of our dog when she came in to an embryo transfer while still in grief. It remains one of the most thoughtful gifts we received. I could go on about the remainder of the staff, but this review would be too long. Overall, this experience was just about as great as possible given the circumstances.
I can’t recommend Dr. Chang and CCRM enough! All of the nurses were so great and kind too! Dr. Chang guided me through my infertility journey and was always kind, patient, and informative and let me know all of my options. After trying TIC and IUI, I decided on IVF, although never being pressured into it. The process was smooth, organized, and monitored with plenty of appointments. They helped me achieve a viable pregnancy and continued to see me until week 9 which helped put my mind at ease since you typically can’t get into OB until week 12. It’s also easy to communicate with and get fast responses through their clinic app. Happy that my experience was with CCRM and thank you to everyone who works there!
I’m sharing my experience so others can make an informed decision. I was instructed to come in on cycle day 2 for baseline labs. When I saw the message, I explained that I had just worked a night shift, had not slept, and did not feel safe driving an hour each way. I asked if day 3 could be an option. I clearly expressed that I felt unsafe making that drive while sleep-deprived and that I was not comfortable coming in that day. This was also an unfortunate timing issue, as this was the only morning I was coming off a night shift; my schedule would have been flexible for appointments afterward, although this was not discussed. Despite this, I was again told that it was recommended to come in that day, and a day 3 appointment was not discussed, nor was the option of delaying the cycle to prioritize safety, even though both have been options in my prior egg freezing experiences. My safety concern was not acknowledged until I was already at the clinic and raised it again, which was frustrating given that I had communicated it beforehand. I ultimately made the drive while extremely fatigued, and the visit ended up being unproductive—I canceled the cycle afterward. I had also already invested significant time (three months with CCRM) and effort into this process, including purchasing thousands of dollars worth of medications, which are non-refundable through an outside pharmacy. While the clinic did offer a refund for their portion, the overall experience ultimately led to an undesired outcome, as I did not feel comfortable continuing care with this team due to the lack of patient-centered communication. I also want to note that I had a positive impression of Dr. Chang and was looking forward to working with her. However, my experience with the care team and overall communication made me uncomfortable continuing care at this clinic. During the visit, I felt the focus was more on my tone than on the situation that led to it. I understand professionalism is important and I did apologize, but I would have appreciated more empathy, validation, and patient-centered communication regarding the safety concerns I raised beforehand. While the clinic may have strong clinical protocols, I would encourage more flexibility and attention to patient safety and experience, especially when concerns are clearly communicated.
Dr. Chang and her entire team are absolutely incredible. From check-in to blood draws, the nurses, OR nurses, embryologist—every single person in this practice is kind, friendly, and truly compassionate. I felt safe and supported throughout the entire process. After moving to Texas, I was lucky enough to find Dr. Chang following 2½ years of trying to have a baby, experiencing loss, and feeling discouraged. She guided my husband and me through the IVF process with thorough care and never left anything off the table. Thanks to her and the amazing staff, we’ve reached our 6-week mark and got to see our baby’s little heartbeat. We are beyond grateful and only wish we had found her from the very beginning. Feeling incredibly blessed to have met her! 💛
