AdventHealth Medical Group Fertility at Shawnee Mission

I was referred to them from my OBGYN and I truly can’t say enough great things about Advent Health Fertility Clinic!! We’ve been seeing them multiple times a month, sometimes a week, for the last 12 months. We went in without any knowledge of the steps we were going to take and everyone was so helpful at making us feel at ease and encouraged. Starting with Dr, Gehlbach- he’s so kind and great at his job. You can tell he cares and never once made you feel uncomfortable. He always answered our silly questions without judgement and with reassurance. Johni, Goldie and the nurses are INCREDIBLE. The way they remember your face every time you come in. They are all so friendly and personable. You see these women most often when going through IUI/IVF and so it makes your experience even better when they’re genuinely nice humans. Lastly- Kim and the other front desk ladies….THESE WOMAN MAKE ME SO HAPPY. They are the first and last people you see in the office. They always made me feel welcomed with smiles on their faces, even at the early 7:30am appts. They’ve helped with multiple billing questions/issues and always talked us through the numbers when needed. Is it weird to say I am actually going to miss these ladies because they brought so much joy into my life?! Angela and Tiffany- although I only met with them a few times, they were some of the most important times of our journey! Just like everyone else, they were so kind during every single interaction. Overall, I’m forever thankful to this whole team for everything they’ve done for us, but also for making us feel encouraged. Infertility is so tough so the little encouragements a lot the way mean so much.

This IVF journey tested me in ways I never expected, but I am so proud that I persevered. And I truly believe I couldn't have made it through without Dr. Gehlbach, Johni, Goldie, Tiffany, the wonderfully warm Kim, and the whole team. They provided not just medical expertise, but genuine kindness and support every step of the way. Thanks to them, our family is now complete with the arrival of our precious daughter. We will never, ever forget what they've done for us.

Thanks to Johni, Goldie, and the others at this clinic, I’m currently 17 weeks pregnant with a baby girl. We had some hiccups and I had to advocate for myself sometimes (ie requesting Letrozole instead of Clomid), but overall they were ready to help. They are also super quick to respond any time you have questions. Portal messages I sent were returned within an hour most days. Also, shout out to your front desk person with the shaved hair, she was always so sweet and excited for us whenever things went well!

Every time I see Dr. Gehlbach I felt the urge of writing a good google review on him and his team. We transferred to Dr. G in May 2025 after 2 egg retrievals and a failed transplant with another large institute in Kansas city. We didn't like the service we got from there (Dr. never showed up, no phone call communications with the medical team are allowed, late response, no egg retrieval or transplant procedures on Friday and during weekend, cold doctor unwilling to discuss treatment nor care about patients). We spent an hour with the Nurse Practitioner at AdventHealth during our first visit. She was very patient when listening to our concerns and confuse, she gave solid advice and schedule, she and another N.P. were always available on the App whenever we have questions. For all our following treatment sessions, we always see Dr. G and he performed all exams/treatments except for Ultrasound. He's always very patient with our questions, he explains benefits vs. risks of treatment methods, he was also willing to discuss treatment ideas we proposed. There was no time that he is inpatient and hurry to run out for the next patient. Dr. G is a former military doctor, that also added a great deal of trust. Everyone at the clinic was friendly and caring. We feel respected and related at the clinic. The team is also able to perform procedures during weekends, which we think are key for patients that have time-sensitive egg retrieval and transplant plans.

Dr. Gehlbach and his team are truly the best! Dr. Gehlbach is one of the few fertility doctors I know that actually take the time to sit down and talk with you one on one - after my second miscarriage (1st with IVF) he immediately sat down with us in person and explored all of our options on how to proceed afterwards so that we can (& did) have success the next transfer. After talking with other numerous people going through IVF and what their experiences were like at other fertility clinics, it sounds like he is one of the few fertility doctors who is extremely hands on. With Dr. Gehlbach, he was the one to sit down and talk with myself and my husband throughout different processes, I could easily send him a message asking questions and get honest & quick responses, he did all of our post transfer (pregnancy) ultrasounds himself and when I had worries about ovarian cysts and pelvic pain pre transfer he was the one to also do the ultrasound himself. He always remembered my husband and I by name and who we are even though I know he has tons of patients on a regular basis - I never felt like I was just a number or just another patient there. I also had a very successful egg retrieval here and ended up with 6 PGT tested euploid embryos. So thankful for him and the entire team and helping us to get our double rainbow baby.
