They just merged or were taken over by Shady Grove Fertility so things there are more chaotic than usual. The best way to get anything done is to go in person as no one ever answers the phone and if you leave a message, no one calls back. The staff including nurses and docs are all very nice and ethical but at the end of the day, the patient is just part of a large assembly line in a so called, ‘science,’ that is all too hit or miss. Another tip when going thru the fertility process is to self advocate, be on your toes the WHOLE time as the patient knows her/his body the best and medical staff only dare think they know better. Buying donor sperm is a bit pricey but what really hurts is the many ultrasound and consult visits as they add up quickly. I would recommend going somewhere else.

We adore Dr. Tidey. He has a calm, quiet demeanor that is very focused. Although he is quiet, he is without doubt warm and determined. He is extremely patient and has always answered our questions without ever making us feel that he is hurried or bothered. I have seen many RE’s and he is by far the most gentle and precise and will do all he can to help you succeed. He really is an incredible doctor, an excellent surgeon and strives for excellence. I would highly recommend him. His nurse Kim is absolutely an angel on earth! She has made this emotional time so comforting and warm; I just cannot say enough about her. The nursing staff in the OR are also so incredible! I have yet to experience anything, but compassion and professionalism.

My wife and I became patients of Virginia Fertility Associates back in 2017. Our primary physician was Dr. Tidey. We met with him to discuss our options, and after undergoing a few tests in the following months to rule out any biological issues, decided that IUI was the best course of action. Our first IUI was unsuccessful. However, that was the least upsetting aspect of our experience. Before, during, and after the procedure, we were constantly in the dark about how to proceed. Dr. Tidey gave us no direction whatsoever, save for one- and two-word answers to our questions, as if he expected us to already know the entire IUI process (including appointment dates/times). We had to call the front desk endlessly for information but could never get anyone on the phone. At one point, VFA failed to call an ovulation trigger prescription (which was VITAL to the IUI) into their pharmacy in New Jersey; in order for us to receive it in time, we had to pay $40 for overnight delivery. The front desk staff later shrugged us off when we told them about this. The day of the actual IUI should have been routine; instead, Dr. Tidey fumbled around and could not seem to figure out how to position the syringe correctly. At one point, he pulled it out with my wife’s blood on it. After it was evident that my wife was not pregnant, we decided to try another IUI with VFA. This time, we were handled by Dr. Shah, who was admittedly much better than Dr. Tidey and took his time explaining everything to us. Though my wife did become pregnant with this IUI, we unfortunately miscarried. Fast forward to the final bill. VFA sent us the total invoice and I called them to arrange a payment plan (which, they previously explained during one of our office visits, was a viable and standard option). But again, I could never get anyone to answer the phone. Still, they continued to mail the bill to us, month after month. And continually, I tried to call to arrange monthly payments to no avail. I left messages with their billing department that went unreturned. Then, all of a sudden, we received a letter in the mail that we were being TAKEN TO COURT for the unpaid balance – and that an additional $700 for attorney fees plus a penalty percentage was being tacked on – which raised our bill $1,000 higher than what we owed. I called the number on the letter and was told nothing could be done, and that it was out of VFA’s hands now that an attorney was handling it, DESPITE the fact that VFA ADMITTED they had a record of me calling and leaving messages months earlier (which were not returned) to make payments. If they’d at least had the decency to put the account into collections before taking us to court, I could have settled the matter – and would have been happy to do so with someone who actually answers the phone. Instead, they went from 0 to 100. At no point did Virginia Fertility Associates ever treat us like a priority or with any level of respect. It was a mentally and physically exhausting experience that has somehow managed to get worse after we decided to stop dealing with their blinding incompetence. I would recommend adoption any day over putting yourself through their circus of an operation.

This was my 1st visit with Dr. Edelstein. He was very knowledgeable, took his time and actually listened to me. I left the office feeling like an expert thanks to him. The entire staff from the time I walked in until when I left were very friendly, kind and professional. 1st impressions are everything and I must say this place left a great impression. This is a tough time in my life and I am so blessed to have the staff at Virginia Fertility Associates on my side answering all of my questions. Excited for my new journey.

I have been a patient of Dr. Shah since 2016! He is simply the most amazing individual I have been blessed to meet! He greets with hugs and I can text him on the “What’s App” any time and he will answer my questions or concerns. Personable, honest, patient, SUPER intelligent and God’s personal assistant is miracle working! He promised at my 1st consultation that by the end of our time together, he would get me pregnant! He kept his promise and I am over the moon with a healthy pregnancy thus far! Everyone at the office are super sweet and are a wonderful group of people. I love them dearly and they have become family to me and my husband! God is good!
