Manhattan CryoBank

Update 2020: We discovered this facility didn’t screen correctly for genetic testing with Thalassemia and it has caused some problems. Because of this, a legal investigation has already been process by the parents. This facility is now shut down and closed. All paperwork and questions need to be further looked into with the new company it was bought by. We used Manhattan Cryobank and we were pleased with the attention the gentleman gave us. We were hoping for a donor who had similar ethnic races. It was not easy to find a donor who is Asian, Hispanic & Caucasion; and sure enough we found a perfect match. The baby pictures were perfect and we had a beautiful little success who will be turning "2" on Jan 2nd, 2016. Update. We used them again and with the same donor and same great experience. We now have two beautiful girls from the same donor and we are happily pleased. They have a very small-clean office as well.

6 years ago I went with confidence. Purchased 1 vial and was very Successful. I used Dr. Melnick for my IUI am very happy. My son and the baby picture are Identicle. My son is a genius. He brings so much joy to my family. I thank Manhattan with so much blessings. Plus my friends were successful. I have 5 stars for the time we all went. Sorry that it didn't work for you. The fact that this place is not open on the weekends and does not ship on the weekends, is really making this fertility experience even more difficult. The fact that their tanks only keep the sperm frozen for 5 days is making it so hard to figure out when you order. Some fertility procedures you don't know until a day before that it's going to be done. Trying to coordinate this and missing opportunities is heartbreaking. Wasting $200+ dollars on over night shipping that really is 4 days because of the weekend, is insane. The only good thing about this place is they respond to your calls and emails fast and my donors sperm count was 18million post wash with 67% motility. They need better hours and tanks that keep the specimens frozen for longer periods of time.

My wife and I have ordered from Manhattan a few times before and always had a great experience. This time was not the case. We ordered a vial for our IUI treatment this month and when the clinic went to defrost there was nothing in it. Needless to say we have missed our window for our cycle this month due to the missing specimen and are out a lot of money because of it. I contacted Manhattan and they told me that they would look into replacing the empty vial but would not reimburse us the money we spent at our clinic for the IUI procedure that we were unable to do due to their negligence. We are extremely unhappy about this and cannot believe that they would be unwilling to right their wrongdoing to keep loyal customers. These procedures are not cheap and the donor vials are costly as well. If Manhattan is not willing to 100% right this wrong I cannot in good confidence recommend them to anyone looking to uses their services.

We are using insemination because we are a same-sex couple not because we are having infertility issues. In fact, my clinic pre-screened me for everything and I was deemed perfectly healthy and fertile. We used Manhattan Cryo because we wanted to use the same donor as our friend had used. We did a total of four cycles, using 7 vials of sperm (2 per cycle except the last one). Our numbers were 8 million, 8.5, 8, 7, 9, 8, and 10. Motility was between 45 and 49%. The clinic said they like to see over 50% motility and over 10 million sperm, and expressed some concern over the quality of these samples. We addressed this with Manhattan, who stated they guarantee 10 million PRE-wash and nothing post-wash, so there was nothing they could do. When we finally chose to go with another donor because the doctor said our issue could be egg-sperm incompatibility, we figured we might as well switch banks too - just in case. We have done one cycle (still waiting for results!) with two vials from California Cryobank: the first had 20 million and the second had 24! Motility was 74%. Manhattan Cryo is the cheapest, sure. But over a couple hundred dollars difference per vial, we have ended up wasting thousands over the long haul. If they are so chintzy with their numbers, and seemingly less good with screening applicants to ensure good motility from frozen samples, then who knows what else is inferior. It's not worth trying to save just a little bit of money by going here!
