I wouldn’t have my 3 kids if it weren’t for Dr Shamma and his team at both the Ypsilanti & Bloomfield offices. Through the ups & downs of the IVF process, I was able to successfully get pregnant 3 times at IVF Michigan. My husband & I went to another clinic and was able to produce six normal embryos. We transferred the best quality single embryos first of which the first three attempts did not take. We decided then to go for twins during the fourth attempt (2 for 1 deal - paying most out of pocket). I insisted that we change up the medicine protocol to do progesterone-in-oil injections because before I was doing suppositories. I did get pregnant, but then had a miscarriage at six weeks. In the meantime, I had friends that were going to IVF Michigan and they were following a different medicine protocol than me for the transfers. I had sent that protocol to my doctor and they told me that was an older practice and they wouldn’t agree to change my current plan other than taking the PIO injections. So we decided to transfer again for the fifth time of which turned out to be a chemical pregnancy. At this point, I was so devastated that I only had one embryo left (least quality BC) and I changed doctors. When I had my consult with Dr. Shamma, he wanted to do a whole new retrieval because of the lower quality. I disagreed & told him this is my last attempt to have a kid and to make it work and he did by putting me on a special protocol. After I had my son, I wanted him to have a sibling so we did go through another retrieval. Now I have a daughter and another son. I’m so grateful for this practice & highly recommend.
Dr. Shamma and the Ann Arbor nursing team are incredible. IVF is a tough journey, but their expertise and genuine compassion made all the difference. We felt supported every step of the way—highly recommend this office!
Terrible. Husband and I went through this after ongoing issues with another fertility clinic. We met with the doctor which was a great experience however, after reassuring us several times their clinic would be different when we told them the concerns we had about the prior fertility clinic they would communicate with us, and assured me a nurse would be reaching out to schedule everything. They never did. Not once. Never a follow up. Not an email. Luckily my husband and I became pregnant without their assistance but then they randomly bill be after not doing MONTHS later what they said they were going to do. I would search somewhere else. Also there are cheaper options out there then going through this clinic.
My husband and I had a really wonderful experience with Dr. Starostanko. She was so kind, patient, and thorough during our appointments. After working with our normal OBs through our fertility struggles, who we liked but they felt very clinical at times, we really appreciated how warm and sympathetic she was, and the effort she put in to trying to have some of our questions answered. Would definitely recommend her to those who are struggling with infertility.
At first it was a glad experience to finally see Dr. Shamma after rescheduling to a month later, but then he finished our conversation in 12 minutes. I fully understand that Dr. Shamma wants a letter from my psychiatrist so that we can proceed, but I just paid $220 for a consultation. We both are aware that I already went through an egg freezing procedure so it is reasonable if I hope to hear more about the IUI procedure since it is new to me. Dr. Shamma kept saying he needs a clearance and he summarized the whole IUI procedure in two minutes. This is not what I would expect for an initial consultation. I simply hope to be enlightened by some knowledge about IUI. It was already difficult to schedule an appointment with this facility and now I have to spend more time switching to other providers.
