Open Fertility

I had a great experience here for egg freezing and have recommended to several friends!!! More affordable, no frills option. I’m a physician and also really loved the NP model here. Only opportunity for improvement to note— had I not been in medicine, it would have been confusing with the med dosing and mixing. Recommend doing some in office/ on video teaching for folks who may need extra support with that :).

I’m in my third round of egg retrieval and fertilization with Open and have had nothing but good experiences! It did take me a couple calls to get through to them initially, but on that second call the person I spoke to was very kind and patient in answering all my questions and did a good job explaining what to expect in a first appointment and what might happen from there. We weren’t sure if we’d feel ready for IVF when we went for that visit, but we felt so comfortable with Georgia (our provider, an NP) that it was an easy decision to move forward. One of the cool things they do to keep the cost significantly lower than all of the other clinics in the area is that you work with an NP instead of a doctor until it’s time for the actual egg retrieval, which happens at Spring Fertility in Sunnyvale (a couple hours away). I think this may be even better than working with a doctor directly because Georgia takes time to answer all of our questions and make sure we’re comfortable and understand what’s going on, which I’ve heard isn’t the case at many clinics. She even held space for us after we got disappointing genetic testing results. Plus, the NP runs the protocol by the doctor they work with, so you have multiple people with eyes on your protocol. Our follicle to retrieved mature egg rate has always been high, as has been the egg to blastocyst conversion rate, which I think is proof that they do a good job with the protocol! The staff is all kind and they are very communicative (through a special app, that also reminds you exactly how much meditation to take and when to take it) and I’ve felt supported every step of the way. 10/10 recommend!

I was recommended Open Fertility by a friend that had a positive consultation. My first impression is that is very cheap compared to other clinics. I’ve already done 3 rounds elsewhere and several other consultations so I do have a lot to compare it too. I tried calling twice in one day with no answer. Odd. I emailed and got a response a couple days later. I filled out all the paperwork and booked an appointment or so I thought. Then got notification that they would have to review my previous rounds of IVF and let me know if I would be accepted. I was taken aback since I haven’t had this experience at any other clinic. I got two text messages over the weekend telling me to call them. But the clinic is closed on the weekends, again odd. I was then called today and told I am not a good candidate for Open and they recommended I try Spring Fertility instead. Honestly, I’m not surprised. I got pregnant my first round of IVF but miscarried at 8 weeks. Then had 5 embryos out of the last 2 rounds but none were PGT normal. So why didn’t they accept me as a patient? Likely because I would bring their SART success rates down, but they wont say that. I will likely need several more rounds of IVF. But instead of helping patients and giving us a chance, they just deny access. I’m disappointed at another lost opportunity, after dealing with unexplained infertility the last 4 years this clinic is doing nothing really to help those of us that need affordable options. Yes I might need 3 more rounds, so why not let me pay for it and try?! I will not be recommending this clinic based on their patient screening practices.

Our experience at Open Fertility was great, Georgia made me feel heard and understood, and I felt like I could relax and trust that I was in great hands. The staff were caring and pleasant, the communication went smoothly and I was able to get concerns and questions addressed quickly (especially with the help of my lovely patient navigator, Veronika), and the ultrasound technician was very careful and made the process as comfortable as possible. We are grateful for the positive experience we had here!

From the very beginning, Open Fertility treated my husband and me with genuine care, respect, and compassion. After starting our IVF journey at a clinic that wasn’t the right fit and made me feel more like a number than people, finding this team was such a relief. They made the entire process feel manageable by clearly educating us every step of the way and taking the time to truly listen. Nothing ever felt rushed or impersonal, and we always felt supported during what can be an emotional experience. We are especially grateful to Katelyn Helgeson whose kindness, patience, and attentiveness made a meaningful difference for us. We couldn’t have been successful without the rest of the staff as well: Dr. Chervernak, Rehanz, Jill, Maria, Kendra, Diana, Dr. Rosen, Xiaoning, and the Spring Fertility Clinic nurses in Sunnyvale. We are incredibly thankful for the care we received and would wholeheartedly recommend this clinic to anyone looking for compassionate, knowledgeable, and truly patient-centered IVF care.
